Major downside, specific to Apple users: it is supposed to be a feature that I can read a few pages on my laptop, close the book, then pick it up on my phone and have the phone version catch up with those pages I read on the laptop. However, with physical books and my phone's reading app, I can torrent whatever book I want and throw it on there. The other thing about e readers is that, at least for mine, the only way to get a book on it is to "purchase" it on Amazon, which is not the same as owning the book you purchased. Especially when you go to take a shit only to find there is no signal, you've got a book or ten on your phone. ![]() The e ink is still better, but not enough to offset the convenience of having the books on hand at any time. I think with the dark background and off-white text, it doesn't have much of a strain on the eyes. However, in an attempt to reduce my social media usage, I put the books app on my homescreen where the reddit app was and loaded some epubs onto it, so instead of spending a bunch of time scrolling through a bunch of banal comments, like I'm doing now, I can just read a book.
