4/3/2024 0 Comments Rpg maker 3d battle![]() * IOW, I think you should go hard one direction or the other, not a wishy-washy halfway state. I don't like laying out small tiles or drawing and re-drawing on dry erase surfaces, and I definitely don't like trying to do extensive repositioning of lots of 3D terrain during game time. My least favorite option that still uses miniatures is.anything that requires extensive surface changes. My goto company for downloadable printable maps is Heroic Maps, and you can look for their stuff over at the Drivethrurpg site. Unlike my first option, I also tend to have the mi9nis needed for different encounters/locations organized and separated pre-game. I keep the amount of miniatures small to make it easier to pull them out and put them away as locations change. I've found this is about as large as can be readily carried and pulled out for use in an RPG, even when a fairly large table is available. I generally try to keep these smaller than 20" x 30" and two sided. I will also collect a number of maps/grids/surfaces related to the setting where the campaign is taking place and try to have them ready to go. In this case though, the use of non-essential miniatures is limited in practice. Special occasion play, basically.įor a more regular RPG campaign situation, I favor 2D map/surfaces/tiles as nice as I can make or afford, with the most appropriate minis I can find ( again, I may build the situation from the minis I own), with some spot terrain items, like furniture or vehicles added. This kind of play tends to be one-offs though. Either way, if I go to that extent, I'm planning an all day session ( or a couple of sessions), not a half hour or one-encounter type skirmish. ![]() I might build the scenario based on what I already have, or I might buy stuff to build the scenario I've come up with, or a bit of both. ![]() ![]() Given my first choice option, I like a large 3D table layout built for the scenario in mind with appropriate minis and terrain. I like the borderlands area between miniatures wargames and RPGs using miniatures ( I also like completely no minis needed or helpful RPGs*, but that's a different subject). ![]()
